Jazmin Greene Community Garden

Where children grow. Serving the Child, Family and Greater Community.

The Jazmin Greene Community Garden

We provide our children organic and sustainable grown eating options.
The Beginning of a Health Movement
Low-income families have less access to healthy eating options than families in communities with higher incomes. Furthermore, there are fewer opportunities for physical activity because there is less green space, fewer parks, and fewer bike paths. In Forest Park Georgia, it was the idea of Ms. Olutoyin Okunoren, founder of Little Ones Learning Center, to make a change in the community that she had been serving for many years.
The Beginning of a Health Movement
The Jazmin Greene Community Garden was started in 2013 after a tragedy elsewhere became a rallying call for our community to remember her memory. The garden is a great way for the children to learn how to grow their own food and other exciting plants, play in the garden beds with worms, and learn how to compost, but can also enjoy the organically grown vegetables during meal times.

Our lovely Farm to Early Childhood Educator, Ms. Ladybug is on-site at Little Ones at least twice a week. On Tuesdays she spends time with each class, teaching them new and exciting facts about the garden, nature in general, and classes may spend time in the garden planting or picking vegetables! On Thursdays, she hosts a weekly Garden Club. For more information about the Garden Club, you can check out the Tumblr blog above! Ms. Ladybug also spends time with our teachers each week, helping them to expand their gardening curriculum!
